At the hearing of the case Rex v. Yuen Lap Kwan

and others, which took place on the afternoon of 23rd

before Mr. Himsworth, Second Police Magistrate, Kowloon,

Mr. Peter Sin pleaded guilty on behalf of all the defendants

to all charges.

The magistrate imposed fines as follows:-

The total fines imposed thus amounted to $16,000

D inclusive. and represent the maximum fine on charges A On charge E each defendant was fined half the maximum fine.

The magistrate further made an order for confis-

cation of all the wireless apparatus and of a large number

of documents and code books.

The magistrate further ordered that the sum of

$1,000 should be paid as a reward to the persons who had

obtained and given information leading to the conviction

of the defendants.

Before concluding this report, I should like to

pay a tribute to the work of Mr. Waterton, the Senior Inspector of Wireless Telegraphy and his staff, particularly Mr. Wong Chi Yan and Mr. Yick Mo Fung. They have put in

an immense amount of work in connection with this case and

their industry is deserving of the highest praise.

To take on instance alone Mr. Waterton and Mr.

Wong were successful, after much studious and tedious work, in producing evidence that some of the codes with possession of which the defendants were charged on Charge E had been
